Mental Health and Lying Low

Dear Reader,

I hope you enjoy your weekly dose of me. I am still at home ~ social distancing ~ as I should be.

I have not yet got used to classes moving online, I don’t know if I ever will. College is hard enough to get used to without the panic of everything changing within a week. I get a thousand and one updates on lectures, assignments, and assessments. Sometimes, it just feels like too much.

Then I remember I need to step back sometimes to take a breath (or several), make some tea and write a list of things to do.

In these tough times, it is important to prioritise your physical and mental health. Isolation can bring doubt, worry, loneliness and anxiety which can be combated with a few small measures.

When feeling overwhelmed with work, which I was this week because I was sick (not COVID-19 I promise), I make a list of all things to do and then a time schedule of when to do them. When I have this practical side done I then focus on getting myself out of this feeling. I do a variety of things to get me away from this feeling like I can listen to music, have a shower, do a facemask or paint. It is something productive but fun to make myself feel in control and happy.

If you are still struggling with things to do I will link a useful video below on how to stay occupied!

In the mean time, stay positive and at home! If you don’t do it for yourself do it for the vulnerable people in your life!

See you next week,

Aishlin xx
